Born on May 22nd, 1924
French singer and songwriter
Noticed by Edith Piaf in 1946, he toured the United States with her, then went to Canada for a year and a half. Aznavour has been a Canada enthusiast throughout his life. His first major success was the song Sur Ma Vie and his fame reached its peak in the 1960s thanks to chart-toppers such as La bohème, Emmenez moi and For Me Formidable. His last album, Aznavour toujours, came out in 2011. Several sittings took Charles Aznavour to the Grévin workshops, located just under its rooftops. Two models of the artist were inaugurated in Paris: one in 1964, the second in 2004. It is now Montréal’s turn to welcome this French variety superstar.
