Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, better known as Katy Perry, is a popular American singer born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. She is currently signed to Capitol Records and holds eight Guinness World Records, including First Female with Five Number One US Singles from One Album (Teenage Dream). Perry’s debut album sells only 200 copies, but she is catapulted into the international spotlight after the release of her provocative single I Kissed a Girl in 2008. The song attests to her fight for LGBT rights ─ one of many humanitarian causes for which she regularly advocates ─ and shows her signature bubbly and eccentric personality. With original costumes reminiscent of Lady Gaga’s and music as colourful as her hair, Katy Perry stands out as one of the most recognizable artists of the 21st century.
