Drag queen character created by Luc Provost in Québec
A character built up by Luc Provost over 20 years ago, Mado Lamotte is the most famous drag queen in Montréal and throughout Quebec. She is the Queen of Kitsch in all her splendour, whose lifetime dream was to “work as a cashier for Metro” and who has been 29 years old for the past two decades…
Starting off as, and continuing to be, an emcee for popular evenings in the Montréal’s Gay Village, Miss Lamotte also writes columns for weekly newspapers and magazines. She has taken part in a reality TV show and hosted giant bingo parties as well as open-air mega-parties. She also takes part in Gay Pride parades.
By creating Mado Lamotte, a character inspired by a Michel Tremblay novel, Luc Provost has doubtless become one of the best liked humorists in Quebec. Mado will be making us laugh for a long time yet!
