Meryl Streep

American actress


Meryl Streep is the actress most often nominated for an Oscar in cinema history. Nominated 17 times, the recipient of 2 Oscars and 5 Golden Globes, she set the seal on her recognition with The Deer Hunter, in 1978. She also made her mark with films such as Out of Africa and The Bridges of Madison County.

Often confined to dramatic roles, she nonetheless proved that she could master comedy in The Devil wears Prada and Mamma Mia!

An all-round artist, she becomes totally involved in her roles, to the point where she learned to speak French with a Polish accent for the French dubbing of Sophie’s Choice, and to play the violin for Music of the Heart.
