Born on August 17th, 1943
American actor
This tremendous actor is famous for his many cult movies, for example: The Godfather: Part II, Once upon a time in America, Heat, The Untouchables, and The Deer Hunters. He has won many awards, including one Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, one Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, and the 2011 Golden Globe Lifetime Achievement Award. His character interpretations, which are very finely worked, have made him one of the most famous actors in the history of the cinema. He is especially appreciated for his personal commitment to the roles he plays. For example, when he starred in Raging Bull, he allowed his weight to increase by 30 kg, and he learned to play the saxophone for his role in the musical comedy New-York, New-York. Although he is specialized in gangster movies (The Untouchables, Casino) his filmography is very wide-ranging and he has performed in every possible style.
We saw him in the role of a plumber in the science-fiction fantasy film Brazil, as a former CIA agent in the comedy Meet the Parents, and as a family man in the drama A Bronx Tale, which he himself directed. In May 2011, he was president of the jury for the 64th edition of the Cannes Festival.
